چکیده
Introduction: Unique aspects of neonatal renal physiology enhance the occurrence Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) as a complication sepsis. The study sought to determine prevalence AKI and its characteristics in neonates with suspected sepsis.
Methods: A cross-sectional was conducted at Kenyatta National Hospital among aged 0-28 days. defined serum creatinine more than 100μmmol/l.
Results: Among 332 included 120 had giving 36.1% (95% CI 31 41.6). Based on RIFLE criteria commonest presentation Failure 72 (62.6%, 95% 53.6 71.6), followed by 26 (22.6%, 14.8 30.4) then Risk 17 (14.8%, 8.2 21.3). common late onset sepsis (p=0.004). Maternal fever preceding week delivery presence either puerperal or post-partum hemorrhage were significantly associated severe (p=0.004 p=0.038).
Conclusion: Prevalence high; those likely develop compared early Presence maternal postpartum forms AKI.

Risk Factors of Acute Kidney Injury in Patients with Sepsis; A Cross-Sectional Study
Background and Objective: Due to the importance of acute kidney injury associated in patients with sepsis and the impact of various factors on mortality and hospital stay of these patients, this study was conducted to investigate the clinical features and risk factors for acute kidney injury in patients with sepsis. In addition, we examined whether the severity of acute kidney injury affected c...
متن کاملPredictors of positive blood culture and deaths among neonates with suspected neonatal sepsis in a tertiary hospital, Mwanza- Tanzania
BACKGROUND Neonatal sepsis is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in neonates. Appropriate clinical diagnosis and empirical treatment in a given setting is crucial as pathogens of bacterial sepsis and antibiotic sensitivity pattern can considerably vary in different settings. This study was conducted at Bugando Medical Centre (BMC), Tanzania to determine the prevalence of neonatal se...
متن کاملReducing Hospital Stay in Neonates with Suspected Sepsis
'Suspected sepsis' is one of the most commonly made diagnoses on any neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Most neonates are discharged after 48 hours following negative blood culture results, thus inefficient analyses of these samples leads to delays in discharge. A baseline study demonstrated that, on average, discharge was delayed by four hours per neonate, with a range of up to 21 hours, wit...
متن کاملPaediatric Acute Kidney Injury in a Tertiary Hospital in Nigeria: Prevalence, Causes and Mortality Rate
BACKGROUND The modest decline in child mortality in Africa raises the question whether the pattern of diseases associated with acute kidney injury (AKI) in children in Nigeria has changed. METHODS A database of children, aged between one month and 16 years, with AKI (using modified pediatric RIFLE criteria) was reviewed. The cause of AKI was defined as the major underlying disease. The clinic...
